Privacy Policy

Reminderapp is operated by Silicon Vaalies (Pty) Ltd ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal information we handle, why we handle it, and the choices you have. We comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Who we work for

Reminderapp provides appointment scheduling and messaging to medical practices. Practices are our customers; they provide us with their patients' information so we can send appointment reminders and related messages on their behalf. For patient information, the practice is the responsible party and we process it on the practice's instructions.

What we collect

  • Practice staff: name, email address, and login credentials for the practice's account.
  • Patients (provided by the practice or by you when booking online): name, cellphone number, appointment dates and times, and, where the practice records them, medical aid details and invoicing details.
  • Messages: the reminders and replies sent between the practice and its patients over SMS and WhatsApp, so the practice can see its conversation history.

How messages are delivered

Reminders and replies are delivered over SMS and WhatsApp. When a practice messages you on WhatsApp, the message is transmitted by WhatsApp/Meta Platforms under their own terms and privacy policy. We share only what is needed to deliver the message: your phone number and the message content. SMS messages are similarly delivered through our SMS provider.

What we don't do

  • We do not sell personal information.
  • We do not use patient information for advertising.
  • We do not message patients for any purpose other than the practice's own communication — reminders, bookings, and replies to conversations you take part in.

Opting out

You can opt out of WhatsApp messages at any time by replying STOP, and out of SMS reminders by contacting your practice. Your practice controls which channels it uses to reach you.

Retention and security

We keep appointment and message history for as long as the practice remains a customer, so the practice has a record of its communication. Data is stored encrypted at rest, access is limited to the practice's own staff, and our systems are hosted with reputable cloud providers.

Your rights

You may ask what information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. For patient information we will refer the request to your practice, as the responsible party. Contact us at[email protected].
